Park City and Salt Lake City Utah November 28 2009

Lila spent the Day all bundled up she had on several layers of clothes and a couple blankets. I wanted to make sure she stayed warm. she had the cutest hat and mittens on too. Girl stuff is so much funner than boys!
We decide to spend the day in Park City on Saturday. The boys have not been in the snow much so they had a blast tubing and ice skating .

Scott had never been ice skating before either so I gracously sat out with Lila to let him make a fool of himself instead of me doing it. He actually did just fine though. He spent most the time pushing Brig around and helping him stand up though. Brig loved it!

These little walkers were so cute and helped the kids stand and balance but were hard to push. Brig did better with out it but liked having it anyway.

Alden loves rollerblading and so he did great. People around were commenting on how good he was doing and they were all very surprised when I told them it was his first time on the ice.

Dallin had a blast and did great too although he fell quite a bit. I think he had as much fun falling as he did actually skating. Most the pics I took are of him on the ground.

The boys had so much fun tubing we could have done that all day. I was thinking we should have gotten a babysitter for Lila. Scott and I had to take turns sitting out with her. Brig liked to get pulled while sitting in his tube, that was just as fun to him as going down the hill.

My kids did not have the warmest clothes, we don't even own snow clothes. So they are totally looking nerdy but that is alright they had fun and that is what matters. We brought dry clothes to change into in the car but they didn't get as wet as I thought they would so that was good.

We had fun looking at the Temple lights although I lost the camera, it fell out of the stroller, so these are the only pics we have of there. We took them right when we were leaving. Luckily someone turned in our camera at the Joseph Smith building. I was really sad walking around thinking all of the pictures from the whole trip were lost. Our camera sucks though so it would have been a good excuse to buy a new one we just wouldn't have any pictures from the whole week.

Scott had a terrible eye infection that drove him crazy the whole trip and we had a very long day so this picture cracks me up we all look very tired and ready to go home! Little did we know with our hotel room right next to BYU stadium it would take us FOREVER cuz the BYU/UTAH game went into overtime and was just ending when we were getting back into Provo. Good thing for left over pie and indoor swimming pools, once we finally did get back ate and swam we were good to go again.

We have serious SLEEP issues

So last night I woke up at 1am for no apparent reason. Lila was still sleeping and everyone else was asleep. Well I layed there for about 1 1/2 hours trying to go back to sleep and finally decided to get up and try to make my self tired thinking Lila would wake up soon and want to eat since she had last nursed at 6pm. Well I got on the computer and checked out blogs (I didn't leave any comments though in case I was more asleep than I thought). Finally at 3:15 Lila woke up. I had pumped a bottle at 2:30 because I was feeling very full and thought she might eat quicker from a bottle. So in to feed her I go and here comes Brig, he had a bad dream. He fell asleep and I moved him to Alden's bed because Dallin was sprawled out on Brig's bed. He didn't stay asleep and followed me back to my bed. Lila didn't go back to sleep either so I went in and nursed her some more. She must have been very hungry for going so long with out eating. She went back to sleep and I carried Brig back to bed again. I lay in bed awake, yes still awake since 1 o'clock, why you ask? Well I wish I knew. Finally at 4;45 Scott alarm starts going off. at 5:30 (when he actually shuts it off for real and gets up). I fell asleep. At 6 Lila starts crying again. So it has been a really long night and as soon as these boys are off to school I am taking a long nap!!! Anyway on with my pictures, Brig some how managed to get back in my bed about the same time Scott was getting up. It is a wonder anyone can sleep with him around. We only have a queen bed and boy does he know how to sprawl out.

Lila can roll over and prefers to sleep on her tummy. If she happens to be in her car seat or swing she tries as hard as she can to roll over but can't make it and eventually gives up and falls asleep with her neck all keenked funny.

Alden slept on the couch last night, probably just because he knew I was going to have a hard time sleeping and think I might go try sleeping there. I don't dare lay in the boys beds, while I wash their sheets every week practically they are too gross for me. You never know if you might come across toys or food they weren't suppose to be eating or who knows what else.

And Yes Scott has sleep issues too and has to sleep with his "darth vader mask". I think he hates it but I sleep better when he is not snoring and so does he. (on a side note, Scott painted our cute prayer rock, we helped the boys all make one for FHE a few weeks back and they loved it). Dallin is the only one who slept normal although like I mentioned earlier he was not in his own bed, at least he was in his own room though!!!
Maybe tonight will be a better night...

Happy Halloween!

I will be totally honest with you. I was not it the trick or treat mood yesterday so these are the only pictures I took of my poor kids. This whole week had been totally crazy and I was so tired and cranky and we had a flat tire to fix and errands to run and we were running late like normal and I burned the soup I was making for the Marble's annual Halloween party. The night did get better though cuz I have fun in-laws that I love to hang out with so after dinner was over and I forgot about the soup life wasn't so bad. All three boys wanted to be ninja's from GI Joe, so Alden was Storm Shadow and Dallin and Brig were both Snake Eyes. Lila just wore a cute shirt and leggings from the dollar section at target cuz I'm cheap like that. I am going to hope that next Halloween is better.

Four years and Four months!

Brig turned four years old this month and Lila turned four months on the 16th. I took them in to the Dr. together for their well checks. It was pretty entertaining. Brig is much more out going than either of the other boys ever were (sometimes that is not a good thing either). Anyway, the Dr. asked him his shapes and colors which he did great on and then he started asking him his letters and numbers. He is not so great at those but unless you saw what the Dr. was pointing to you would never know. He just randomly said different #s and letters and didn't get any of them right but never stopped to say he didn't know what it was or anything. The next question was if he knew his address or phone number to which he replied with out so much as a pause, "1,2,3,4,5,6". The Dr. had a hard time not laughing on that one. He already gets a kick out of Brig cuz when we were in with Alden for his well check in May he asked Alden to "show him his guns" to which Brig asks the Dr "Do you have the tickets?" The Dr. totally confused asks the tickets to what? and Brig says "To the GUN show!" "BANG! BANG!" as he shows his muscles. He now mentions that everytime we go into his office. Brig was well and healthy though even though he is small just like the other boys (not as small as Alden though).
On to Lila...she is tiny as can be she was only 11 pounds, but she is healthy and definately growing she is just going to be little like her brothers only more so since she is a girl. Dr. was wanting to know if she rolls and stuff and I informed him that she sleeps on her stomach because that is how she likes it and she rolls all over. The picture above she rolled until she got stuck under her swing and got mad cuz she hit her head on the tile. Poor thing has a mean mom that has to run and grab the camera for a picture before I can rescue her.

This picture didn't turn out very well cuz my camera was on the wrong setting and she wouldn't hold still but she just looked so cute. Today was the first day cold enough to pull out the long sleeves and she got several comments on how cute her outfit was today so it became blog worthy. The sad thing is with all the different bows she has not a single one was the right color pink. What's a girl to do! I ended up just sticking a plan white one on her. She is lucky her Aunt Tanya and Aunt Kim know how to make bows. Kim has taught me how but I need lots of practice mine are not the greatest. A trip to the ribbons & lace is going to be in store for us really soon though with this outfit and a couple others in hand.

more creepy crawly things

So apparently scorpions and bugs are not enough we recently found out that this house has termites as well, since the property management company could care less who knows when we will actually get those taken care of though. Scott has faxed, emailed and called trying to get them to do something about it and they did send someone, once (to the wrong address) so we wait and call some more. In the mean time though. A couple of nights ago I was checking on Lila in the middle of the night, like 2 am ish and stopped in the bathroom on my way back to bed. I didn't have my contacts in but I could tell something was on the floor it was a dark spot next to the bathtub and so I sat there staring at it waiting for it to move because I was sure it would. Yes it did move and I thought to myself that is very weird it doen't really move like a spider or a scorpion so I turned on the light to see what the heck it was....

This is the crab that belongs in our fish tank. It scared the heck out of me. I ran and got a cup like I usually do to trap bugs and things that I need Scott to take care of for me and covered it up. I know there was no chance of it getting out of the cup but I had to set a bottle of hand sanitizer on top just to be sure. Then I went back to bed and told Scott when he got up he needed to take care of his crab in the bathroom. He must have been very tired or something cuz he just said okay he didn't even question what I had just said to him...

So back in the fish tank where he belongs. We watched him because he disappears all the time and we can never find out what happens to him and then he will randomly show up again. We actually caught him in the act of escaping. he climbes up a plant that is too close to the little filter thing that sticks down into the water and gets on that and climbs his way right up it and into the filter. Well he is totally out of the tank when making that transition there is a small opening on the back so he either decided to take a new trip or he fell then he would have had to fall off the shelf the fish tank sits on and walk all the way across the house to the bathroom. Quite an accomplishment for a little guy like him. Needless to say at the top of Scott's "honey do" list is to fix the fish tank so he can't get out any more. I don't need scares like that in the middle of the night anymore!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

This is our 5th or 6th year coming on preschool field trips to the pumpkin patch. The kids love it. Brig is lucky this year to have his cousins Jalyn and Ryker in his class with him. His other cousin Gavin is in the morning class with the same teacher and Logan got to come because I was babysitting him. So it was fun to have all the little cousins the same age together. Getting them to all cooperate for pictures though is a whole other story. That and combine it with the worst picture taker in the world and this is what you end up with.

When Alden was in preschool they use to let them paint the pumpkins. That was probably funner but definately messier and harder to get the drenched in paint pumpkins home without getting paint all over the car. Now they do the craft foam sticker which is much easier.

The kids always have fun going on the hayride. This year they started doing something new and keeping a tour guide person with us the whole time. It was kind of weird at first cuz we are so use to just running and doing our own thing but it actually made it run more smoothly and it was not such a long wait to get on the hayride or to try to get the pumpkins, I guess they are figuring out ways to make it work better since they are such a popular place so that is good.

I traded and left Lila with Uncle Ryan and took his two kids with me so it was really nice to not have to worry about keeping her out of the sun and trying to feed her and everything. I think it worked out well for Ryan too since Heidi was working and he is trying to hide his face these days :)

Brig has the cheesiest smiles. His cousin Gavin sitting next to him is almost 5 and is really big! He makes Brig look so tiny, infact he make Dallin look small. We all know Alden is small.

For Brig's birthday we went to see the Toy Story double feature 3D movie. He has been a fan of those movies for as long as I can remeber. He got to take a couple cousins along that he likes to play with. They all loved it and had a great time. They loved wearing the glasses.

Brig wanted an Easter egg hunt for his b-day. So creative Scott put together a scanvenger hunt for him by taking pictures of items/places in our house and Brig had to follow the clues to find his present. He had a blast doing it. There were only a could of things he needed help on the door bell (he thought it was a CD) the bbq grill and the fish tank rocks (which were very blurry). Now the other boys want dad to do the same thing for them when they have their next b-days.

Brig is probably way to big for the present he got but he has wanted a guitar for a long time (why I really couldn't tell you except he thought it would be funner than air guitaring all the time I guess). Anyway there was no way I was going to spend money to get him a real guitar to break in a day so this was the next best thing. He loves it. The strings move and make noise when you touch them so it works for him. Yes, the boys are attempting to dance, pretty entertaining actually, too bad they take after their mom and have no skill.

I do realize that I do not post pictures in order and all that but i am too terrible at this and it is way too complicated for me to try to fix it after I get it on here so yes it is messy and not in order but you get the idea right???

I hate this house!

This house is totally bug infested. I can't stand it. We have sprayed (with two different companies) and the bugs don't die! we have had crickets, roaches, ants, spiders, you name it we have it. We have also had a centipede (that was huge) and we found a tiny baby scorpion in our shower once. Well this big old sucker was right on our front door mat. I am just relieved for once it was atleast outside and not in my house. I am really just totally glad no one stepped on it or got stung. Scott's brother Ryan and his family were over and when they were leaving his little girl opened the door and freaked out saying there was a scorpion outside. We were all a little surprised to look and see that she was right. Ryan and Scott caught it in this orange bucket and were trying to get it to sting a cricket (which it wouldn't). Anyways it made for an interesting evening. I am totally creeped out now and very glad we are just renting. So if anyone knows how to get rid of all these bugs and especially scorpions let me know.

Red Rover Red Rover send Dallin right over!!!

So apparently my boys have to get very creative on Sunday afternoons when they are not suppose to play outside and with friends. I was washing the dishes after lunch and Heard Brig Yelling "Red Rover Red Rover send Dallin right over!" and I turned just in time to see Dallin run into Brigs chest and knock him down. Brig Got up laughing and then it was Dallin's turn and he did the same thing. (Notice Brig's arms stretched out in the second picture like he is holding someones hands).

This was the funniest thing I ever saw so I had to stop cleaning the kitchen and find my camera to take pictures before some one got hurt or they started fighting (Brig and Dallin do not play together nicely for very long usually).

These pictures I stole off of Elena's blog just because I thought it was so cute. This was at our monthly Thurston family dinner back in August at Tanya's house when the kids some how connedGrandpa Brad into playing red rover with them. Those are some brave little boys calling big old Grandpa over. They don't even flinch!

Three Months Old!

Lila is already three months old I can't believe it. She is so stinkin' cute. She loves to smile and coo. The boys love to talk to her and hold her since she does that. The newest thing is they want to feed her. I usually nurse her but any time they see me getting a bottle they ask if they can feed her. It is really cute. She has so many cute outfits from the baby shower these are just a couple of them. I love that she is finally getting big enough to wear some of the 0-3 month clothes. It is so fun to dress her up. The first Sunday I put shoes on her Scott got a huge kick out of it. I think he stopped walking midstride in the middle of the parking lot to make over how cute she was with her shoes and fancy dress on.

Happy Grandparents Day!!

Yes, there is such a day, it is on my calendar. We have awesome grandparents around here too. I asked the boys what they liked best about all of their grandparents and this is what we came up with... Great Grandma Dorothy Thurston: Alden said he likes learning scriptures for dollars with her, Dallin and Brig both agreed they liked hanging out at her cabin in Pine Valley, Utah. I have lots of great memories of my Grandma Thurston, helping her get her class rooms ready for seminary, learning scripture mastery scriptures for money, the list goes on for ever. Grandpa Verland Thurston past away when I was just a baby but I have always loved hearing about him and feel like I know him through other people. While he is not here with us any more I still think he is an amazing grandparent.

Next up was Great Grandma Marilyn Norton... Alden said she was funny and they all three agreed unanimously that they loved "pay days". Dallin likes that she plays guns with them, and Brig like that she gives him cookies. I remember silly things like getting my fingernails painted and having Grandma scream "your bleeding!" and having to explain to her that it wasn't blood just polish. She is always joking around. My Grandpa Joseph Norton (who we named Brig after), died before my children were born but I have great memories of him too. He was a real cowboy and I always thought that was so cool he was "tough" and unique to me. He always had a hug for me and called all of us girls "baby doll" which always made me feel so special.


Grandpa Brad (Dallin is named after) the boys all said they love to play and wrestle with him. They love that he will get down on the floor and play or help them get into mischief. They love the funny things he does like get them all tied up in their shirts. Alden said he like that Grandma Alice Helps him build things with legos. Dallin like that she always keeps fruitsnacks and other treats in the house and Brig like "M&M's for the road."

Grandpa Steve the boys all agreed they like that he spoils them and buys them the coolest presents. Brig and Dallin like to sit on his lap and cuddle and Alden loves that they share the same name and birthday. The boys all say that Grandma Janice is silly and funny. Alden loves to work on puzzles with her and play games like memory.

Scott has wonderful grandparents too. He loved his Grandma Lila. He always talks about how she pampered him rubbing his head when he had a headache and things like that. His only Grandparent still alive when I met him was his Grandma Marble. We were just dating and she made a comment about me being his wife and he told her I wasn't his wife and she said something to me like don't worry you will be soon. I think that kind of freaked Scott out personally. She died shortly after that and maybe knew more than we thought she did?? I love listening to Scotts family talk about their grandparents they have wonderful memories of them just like I do of mine. I have a strong testimony of families. I truely believe we were sent to earth to be in families for a reason so we could help each other out and learn and grow together. I am so grateful for Grandparents and Great grandparents and for the ancestors and histories we have. I think that one day we will have a huge family reunion in Heaven and we will all know each other and love each other even if we didn't get that opportunity here on earth.

Happy Birthday to me!

This summer Scott won a "staycation" package off of KTAR radio station. It was to the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale for a two night stay and came with a massage and $100 gift certificate to the Macaroni Grill. Well we held on to it to use for my birthday. Scott was very lucky we never win anything and it made planning my birthday so much easier for him for a change since he thinks he has to go all out for everything. Free is always good too. Plus it was fun for him to hear his own name on the radio saying he won and having friends and family call him cuz they heard it too. Anyway, Tanya and Nick stayed with the boys the first night and then we came home and got them and brought them to the hotel for the second night. It was a lot of fun for them. They each recieved a free stuffed animal with the turn down service, which they thought was awesome that someone came to our room to get our beds ready.


The pool was bigger than any pool I have ever seen before. It had a wonderful view and was fun to swim and watch the sun set. They boys could have stayed there the whole time if we would have let them. Lila got to wear her cute swimming suit that I found at the dollar store too. I was excited about that. I haven't tired yet of playing dress up with her!

The boys got an afternoon snack with their own name written on it in Chocolate. They thought that was the coolest thing ever.

I got to go to lunch with my awesome in-laws on Saturday to celebrate my birthday. I have such a good time hanging out with them. I also went out a couple weeks before my birthday with the girls in my family to celebrate mine and my moms b-days. I am so lucky to have great family on both sides. If I were rich I would make this a weekly event. Despite the depressing year I was turning (30), and all the teasing I got. I had a really great birthday.
